The Patriot Award is Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing’s highest and most prestigious award.  It is bestowed upon individuals or organizations that have demonstrated, over time, continuous and extraordinary service to PHWFF as an organization, and to those whom the organization serves.

The Board of Trustees of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) takes great pleasure in presenting the Patriot Award to Lance Trenary, for his exceptional support and dedication to Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing from 2011 to 2018.

Lance Trenary, President and Chief Executive Officer for Golden Corral grew up working in his father’s restaurant at a very young age and leveraged his work ethic and commitment during his 38 plus year career in the restaurant industry to grow from the dish room of a restaurant to Golden Corral’s boardroom.  He is a passionate advocate for our military veterans, particularly for those who experienced a disability or devastating loss.  Lance serves on Camp Corral’s Board of Directors, which provides the children of wounded, injured, ill, or fallen military service members a week of non-stop fun and excitement in 24 summer camps across the United States. Lance became instrumental in Camp Corral’s success by developing fundraising goals for each company and franchise restaurant. Over the past six years, more than 20,683 children attended Camp Corral. In 2017 alone, annual funds raised totaled more than $2 million. In addition, during the 2017 Military Appreciation Monday where Golden Corral provided a free meal to active or retired military veterans, Golden Corral raised more than 1 million dollars for disabled veterans.

Through his total commitment to community and family values, Lance also elevated Project Healing Water Fly Fishing’s organizational reach and impact throughout the country. As a true Patriot, he recognized the positive impact that our programs provide to disabled veterans’ lives.  For the past several years he supported the Mossy Creek Invitational Fly Fishing Tournament to benefit Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.  Each year Lance partners in the tournament with a disabled participant – offering them friendship, mentoring, and a calming demeanor that delivers a unique experience that furthers their healing process.   His steadfast dedication and commitment to our cause enabled access to funds that offer significant improvements in physical and emotional rehabilitative activities for the disabled veteran population that we serve.

Additionally, his unwavering support and personal donations totaling over $100,000.00 enabled Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Inc. to extend its programs throughout to an ever-expanding number of our disabled veteran participants.  His dedication and commitment to our cause remains invaluable because it helped heal those who served our great nation.  Furthermore, his sage advice and counsel as a member of Project Healing Waters’ Founder’s Circle, directs our organization’s strategy and it enables our future success.  His selfless service is a true testament to his exemplary character and it serves as litmus to reinforce his unwavering commitment to our organization’s mission, vision, and core values.

The Board of Trustees of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. is proud to bestow on Lance Trenary the Patriot Award for his tireless and extraordinary service to Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Inc. and to those wounded, ill, and injured active duty servicemen and servicewomen and disabled veterans whom this organization gratefully serves.
