Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. Establishes Project Healing Waters Canada As First International Division
La Plata, MD June 4, 2009 – Ed Nicholson the President of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Inc. and Kerry Pitt the President of Project Healing Waters Canada signed a memorandum of agreement that establishes a vehicle in Canada dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled Canadian soldiers.
After reading of the success that Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Inc. was having improving the quality of life for disabled active duty military and veterans in the U.S. Mr. Pitt , of Beaumont, Alberta, was convinced that such a program could benefit Canadian soldiers. He and his colleague, Ray Fairweather, spent several months determining how to create the Canadian organization until finally with the signing of the memorandum of agreement in March 2009 Mr. Pitt’s dream became a reality. “Alberta is blessed with many local stocked ponds in small and large towns that we plan to make use of to hold casting lessons and fishing experiences until we feel we can move farther afield with trips to other bodies of water” said Mr. Pitt.
These fly fishing outings, casting instruction, fly tying workshops, and rod building workshops are tremendous opportunities to help military personnel who are recovering physically and emotionally. Both Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Inc. and Project Healing Waters Canada are nonprofit organizations that depend on the contributions of people interested in making a difference in the lives of those who have sacrificed for our countries.
