For the second consecutive year, S & K Sales Co., a leading military resale broker, teamed up with a group of their manufacturers to conduct a cause marketing program in the commissaries to support Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. (PHWFF).
During June and July, 2009, participating manufacturers reduced their prices on over 150 items and also pledged monies to be donated to PHWFF based upon sales of those products in the commissaries. The program featured products from Alberto - Culver, Cadbury Adams, Del Monte, Dreyer’s/Edy’s, Georgia-Pacific, JFC, Knouse Foods, Kikkoman, Novartis Consumer Health, Osram-Sylvania, Pactiv – EZ Foil, Playtex, Schick and 3M.
On December 8, Richard Ray, President and CEO of S & K Sales Co., presented a $95,000 check from the manufacturers to Ed Nicholson and David Folkerts for PHWFF. In attendance at the presentation from the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) were: Michelle Frost, Chief, Semi-Perishable Division; Angel Ramos, DeCA Category Manager; Bill Wood, DeCA Category Manager; and Charlie Dowlen, DeCA Promotions Manager.
Richard Ray credited the success of the program to the support received from all levels of the Defense Commissary Agency from the Director’s office to commissary store level. Ms. Frost and her staff applauded the success of the program and voiced their anticipation for an even bigger success again in 2010.
