On Saturday March 3rd, nearly 100 participants from the North and South Carolina regions will gather at the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission’s Pechmann Fishing Education
Center to learn about fly-tying from renown fly-tyer, Charlie Craven.  Charlie will lead the group with instruction and tips to successfully tie 5 different fly patterns to include; Griffith’s Gnat,
Brassie, Copper John, Hare’s Ear Nymph, and the Wooly Bugger.

Charlie Craven has been a commercial fly tier for more than thirty years, tying flies for almost every species of gamefish, freshwater and saltwater, though he specializes in trout flies for the Rockies. He is a signature tier for Umpqua Feather Merchants, which produces fifteen of his patterns. Craven is co-owner of Charlie’s Fly Box in Olde Town Arvada, Colorado, which was the winner of the 2009 Fly Fishing Retailer of the Year Award. He has authored numerous books.

“I’m really looking forward to joining PHWFF, this year for some great fly-tying and fishing, says Craven, “the opportunity to teach and meet with our veterans is an honor. Thank so much for having me!”

Marabou Madness V Fly Tying Event is being conducted by the Fayetteville, North Carolina program of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc  on March 3 – 4, 2018 at the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission’s Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  For the past 4 years, the Marabou Madness event has provided the veteran participants of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) with an opportunity to come together and share information, stories, and fellowship with other fly anglers and veterans while taking part in one of their favorite past times.

Marabou Madness V attendees can also look forward to numerous fly-tying demonstrations, tying contests, fly-casting games, an exciting fishing derby hosted in the Pechmann Fishing Education Center ponds, and an awards ceremony to recognize veteran participants, volunteers, and supporters that make the PHWFF program possible in North Carolina.
