262c6abf-3cbc-40d9-b7b2-50268686804cSyria, VA – Admiral Gregory G. Johnson, USN (ret.) will be the keynote speaker for the 7th Annual Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing 2-Fly Tournament, to be held April 27-28, 2013, at Rose River Farm in Syria, Virginia.

Among his numerous accomplishments, ADM Johnson served as Commander of the U.S. Sixth Fleet and Naval Striking and Support Forces Southern Europe (2000-2001) before being named Commander U.S. Naval Forces, Europe and Joint Force Command, Naples (October 2001 through October 2004).

ADM Johnson and other special guests will address injured and disabled active military service members and disabled veterans, fly fishing professionals, volunteers and supporters during the pre-tournament dinner on Saturday night under the stars in picturesque Madison County, Virginia.

Participants in Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) programs and alumni will also be on hand to discuss the challenges facing today’s service members, both physical and emotional, and the impact PHWFF has had on their recovery and transition.

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and veterans through fly fishing and fly tying education and outings. The 2-Fly Tournament is the organization’s headline event to raise awareness and funding for its 147 programs in 46 states.

The competition kicks off at 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning featuring PHWFF participants from across the nation.  Military/veteran participants will be partnered with a professional fly fishing guide from among the most notable names in the sport.

Saturday night dinner and Sunday lunch will be provided to pre-registered press.  Please RSVP by April 15, 2013.  More information on PHWFF can be found at www.projecthealingwaters.org.
